Eleanor Verdi Paparella, 96, of Wampanoag Trail in East Providence was born on February 1st 1919, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Miriam Hospital. She was the wife of Ralph A. Paparella. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Bernadina (Bastardo) Verdi. Mrs. Paparella worked for the Department of Employment Security for many years before she retired. She was a past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of Italian American War Veterans and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was a 75 year communicant of Our Lady of Loreto Church and also an active member of the East Providence Senior Center. Besides her husband she leaves two sisters, Elvera LaTorre of Smithfield and Evelyn V. Fargnoli of Providence, one daughter, Carolyn A. Rabidoux and her husband Raymond of Lincoln, one son, Leon R. Paparella of Washington, D.C., one grandson, Raymond H. Rabidoux, Jr., one granddaughter, Rebecca A. Rabidoux, four great grandchildren, Skyler, Sydney, Sabrina and Zoe Rabidoux, and many adored and loved nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Teresa Ciorlano, Thomas Verdi, Josephine Verdi, Gino Verdi, Eleanor Verdi and Lester D. Verdi and was the niece of the late Immaculata Tirro. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM from the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Loreto Church, Waterman Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 4-7. In lieu of flowers contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P.O.
