Edna M. Demers, 75, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of Donald G. Demers to whom she was married 40 years.
Born in Bristol, Connecticut she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Adela (Adams) Barchenski. Edna was a jewelry designer for Providence Chain Company before she retired and previously worked for the P.D.Q. Jewelry Company. She was one of the founders of the former Holyoke School in Holyoke, Massachusetts, which was a school for troubled youths. Edna also hosted a Backgammon Tournament that was held online for many years. She will also be remembered as a strong willed and determined person who told you not what you wanted to hear but told you the truth. She will be greatly missed.
Besides her husband she leaves three sons, Anthony Kilmer, J.D. Demers and his wife Brigida and Lee Demers, four grandchildren, Cassandra Kilmer, Damien Demers, Jordan Demers, and Kyle Demers. She was the grandmother of the late James Demers. She also leaves her lifelong friends, Ruby and Lenny Roberts.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours Monday 5-8.
