Arruda, Dolores A. (Silva) 80, of Edgewood passed away peacefully Saturday March 29, 2014 surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was the beloved wife of the late John “Woody” Arruda to whom she was married for 48 years before his passing in 2006. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Albernaz) DeSilva. She graduated in 1951 from East Providence High School. She was a receptionist at Merchants Importing and Dimeo Construction in Providence before retiring in 1991 to care for her husband. She was very active in the PTA from 1967-1975 for both of her children. She was a long time Providence Bruins season ticket holder and enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox on TV.She is survived by her daughter Lori-Ann Arruda of Cranston, a son John Arruda Jr., daughter-in-law, Irene and granddaughter Kaylee Arruda, all of Pawtucket. One sister Alexandria Gold of Alabama and many nieces and nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Van Nostrand, Olive Travers, Frances Costa, Arthur, Anthony and Paul DeSilva.Her funeral will be held on Friday at 8:45 A.M. from the Perry McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Ave. East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St. Paul’s Church, One St. Paul Place, Cranston. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 4-8.
