Derrick Manuel Rose

Derrick Manuel Rose, Sr., 49, went home to his Father in Heaven on Monday, January 14, 2019. Born in Providence, he was the son of Manuel J. and Cora E. (Laughlin) Rose of East Providence. He was a resident of Providence for his first 20 years, a resident of East Providence for 22 years and a resident of Plymouth, Massachusetts for the last 6 years.

 Derrick has worked for Verizon since March 9, 1994. He was a proud member of the IBEW Local 2322. He served as the Vice President of the Local for 9 ½ years and also served on the Local Executive Board for 12 years. Derrick was also a Chief Steward at the Plymouth garage since 1999.

Besides his parents he leaves two sons, Derrick M. Rose, Jr. and DeVante R. Rose and their mother Elena D. Rose all of East Providence; three sisters, Elaine D. McCutcheon and Shirley Ferreira both of East Providence, and Erica M. Rose of Providence; his maternal grandmother, Dorothea F. Laughlin of East Providence, and his fiancé, Patricia Tucker and her three daughters of Plymouth, MA. He also leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. He was the grandchild of the late Richard D. Laughlin Jr., Manuel B. Rose and Marion (Hodge) Randall.

 Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019 from 3-7 PM in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence, Rhode Island. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Hope Congregational Church, 120 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence, Rhode Island. Burial will be in the Springvale Cemetery in Rumford, Rhode Island.
