CONCETTA “CONNIE” DeCESARE Age 105, a resident of Winslow Gardens Retirement Center, East Providence, passed away Friday, March 10th at Linn Health Care Center. Born October 11, 1911 in Providence and formerly of Flora Street, she was a daughter of the late Polidoro and Mariangela (Longo) DeCesare. Connie was a bookkeeper for the Edward N. Cook Plate Co. for many years, before retiring in 1976. When the company moved from Providence to North Attleboro and taking the bus to work was no longer an option, she obtained her first driver’s license at the age of 54 and continued to drive until the age of 97. She enjoyed telling stories about things she did in her life especially her travels, whether it was wintering in Florida with friends and relatives, her Hawaiian trip of a lifetime, or simply walking several miles to Lincoln Woods for a swim as a child with her siblings. Connie often played cards and bingo and spent Sundays cooking her special gravy and lasagna until she was 99. She loved being around her family and she was so proud to have lived such a long and healthy life, boasting her age to family and friends. Her favorite pastime was reading the daily newspaper which she did until her final days. She is survived by her sister, Eleanor Sitko, her nephew, Paul DeCesare and his wife Christine of Seekonk; two grand nieces, Amelia Sugerman and her husband Jonathan, Alicia Amore and her husband Ronald, Jr.; a great grand niece, Olivia Amore, and a great grand nephew, Cole Sugerman. Connie was predeceased by a sister Angela Charette, and four brothers, Dominic, Aquilino, Louis and Albert. A memorial service to which friends and relatives are invited will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 1st in the chapel at Linn Health Care Center, 30 Alexander Avenue, East Providence, RI. Burial is private.
