Celestino V. Couto

Celestino V. Couto, 70, of Providence, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was the beloved husband of Maria T. (Melo) Couto.

Born in Rabo de Peixe, Açores, he was the son of the late Manuel and Maria de Estrella (Vieira) Couto.

Mr. Couto was the owner of Couto’s Fish Truck for over 30 years until his retirement.  Celestino enjoyed cooking and preparing meals to share with his family.  Mr. Couto was a strong, courageous man who fought till the end and never complained. Celestino was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was always committed to his family.  He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Ricardo Couto and his wife Maria of Warwick, David Couto and his wife Kristina of Angus, Ontario, three brothers, José Couto of East Providence, João Couto of East Providence, José Arnaldo Couto of Warwick and one sister, Maria Sousa of Ontario, Canada, five grandchildren, Cassandra Couto, Jayleen Couto, Marco Couto, Aiden Couto and Davien Couto.  He was the father of the late Marco P. Couto

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
