Catherine E. Cooley, 72, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Kent County Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late William B. Cooley. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Alice (Pacheco) Pierce. Catherine was an Investigative Agent for the Providence Police Department before she retired. Previously she was a C.N.A. for Nursing Placement and also worked as a Phlebotomist. She was Vice President of the Cooley Center for Indian Unity. She leaves one daughter, Pocahontas Lorna Jean Cooley of Warwick, one son, Anthony Cooley of Providence, two brothers, Rene Pierce and Henry Chouinard, one sister, Veronica Lewis, two stepdaughters, five stepsons, fifty grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Marc Lopes and sister of the late Anthony Pierce, Jr., Robert Pierce, Stanley Kulpa and Beverly Ann Pierce. Her funeral will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Michael’s Church, Oxford Street, Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 4-8.
