Bertha A. Strolen, 75 of Goldsmith Manor died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Monday, September 30, 2013. Born in East Providence, she was a daughter of the late Frederick H. and Lillian A. (Fournier) Parker. Bertha was a member of the Goldsmith Manor Social Club and was well respected and sought after by her friends and neighbors at Goldsmith Manor. She received an award for all the hours she spent volunteering at Goldsmith Manor. She was an avid Red Sox fan, a recent New England Patriots fan and also enjoyed traveling to Florida. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren. She leaves one daughter, Donna M. Strolen of Mattapoisett, one son, Michael A. Strolen of Pawtucket, four grandchildren, Keith and Kyle McDonald, Braelyne and Brianne Fisher and two sisters, Mary Lineberger and Lillian Jordan both of Providence. She was the step-daughter of the late Jesse Almeida and sister of the late Frederick Parker. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 10:00 AM in St. Margaret’s Church, Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5-8 in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence.
