Artur A. Pacheco

Artur A. Pacheco, 94, of East Providence passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Maria E. (Silva) Pacheco.
Born in Rabo de Peixe, Sao Miguel, Azores he was a son of the late Jose Pacheco Gouveia and Maria de Hortenca Pacheco. Artur was a Maintenance Carpenter in Portugal. He has been a resident of East Providence since immigrating to the United States in 1970, where he continued this trade. Mr. Pacheco worked for the Malina Company before he retired. He was a devoted communicant of St. Francis Xavier Parish. Mr. Pacheco was a master craftsman. He loved woodworking and helping family and friends. Mr. Pacheco was very proud of his Portuguese culture and embraced his traditions by creating wooden artifacts that were showcased in local festivals. He was especially generous to families in need and those with special needs. If he met a family that could not afford medical equipment that they needed for their child, he would build it for them. He was very family orientated and always there for his grandchildren.
He leaves two children, Arthur S. Pacheco and Filomena P. Machado, four grandchildren, Katherine Capron, Elizabeth Pacheco-Rosa, Melissa Machado and Michelle Machado, three great grandchildren, Riley Capron, Kasey Capron and E.J. and two sisters, Adelina Cabral and Olivia Ledo. He was the father of the late Esperanca Pacheco and brother of the late Jose Gouveia, Nascimento Pereira, Altino Pacheco, Armano Pacheco and Antonio Gouveia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, 79 North Carpenter Street, East Providence. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.

We are so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember the first time meeting my Tio Artur when I visited Rhode Island with his brother, my Vovo Altino. I remember my Vovo and I visiting with him and seeing all of his woodwork. He had such a talent and an eye for detail. He was such a gentle man. Our thoughts are with all of you. Beijinhos.
