Arthur J. Berriman, 89, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the St. Antoine Residence. He was the husband of M. Elaine (Violette) Berriman. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Edward and Agnes (Yarwood) Berriman. Mr. Berriman was a sales representative for British Railways before he retired. He was also a Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He was a communicant of St. Theresa Church in Tiverton and a member of the East Providence Council 1528, Knights of Columbus. He traveled to England many times during his life and had a strong affinity to the country. He was an avid rose gardener. Besides his wife he leaves five children, Linda J. Bennett and her husband James of Miami, Florida, Kathleen A. Carlucci and her husband Michael of Plymouth, Ma., Susan B. Shaw and her husband Adam of North Smithfield, Edward J. Berriman and his wife Joan of Keene, New Hampshire and Arthur Y. Berriman and his wife Jennifer of Barrington, fourteen grandchildren, Michelle, Christine, Katie, Meredith, Laura, Elizabeth, Ellen, Mitchell, Jennifer, McKinley, Harper, Emerson, Tyler and Nicholas, two great granddaughters, Mia and Ava, one sister, Margaret Whitaker of Seekonk, one brother, Edward Berriman of Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ann Murphy and Peter Berriman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 10:00 AM in St. Theresa Church, 265 Stafford Road, Tiverton. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 5-7 PM in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence.
