Antonio Edward Vieira
Antonio Edward Vieira, 76, of Richfield Avenue, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at his home. He was the husband of Maria Fernanda (Nunes) Vieira to whom he was married 50 years.
Antonio Born in Rabo De Peixe, Sao Miguel, Azores was a very spiritual and loving man. His life was exemplified by his love of family, friends, strong work ethic, playing cards, watching Benfica, wine making and unwavering passion for the Holy Spirit. He was a son of the late Antonio Sebastiao and Albertina Berta (Tavares) Vieira. After leaving the Azores, he lived in Bermuda for 12 years before coming to the United States in 1978. Mr. Vieira was a machine operator and Union Treasurer for American Insulated Wire before retiring and also ran his own landscaping business. He was one of the founding members and former Presidents of Amigos de Rabo De Peixe and one of the founding members, Vice President and Mordomo-2009 of Irmanadade de Sr. Bom Jesus, as well as an active member of other social and charitable organizations amongst the Portuguese community. He was a faithful communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church who enjoyed traveling, especially going back to his beloved Azores, California and Italy. Antonio was truly a ray of light with an infections smile, his spirit will live in our hearts forever.
Besides his wife he leaves two children, a son Antonio “Tony” and his wife Suzanne, daughter Sandy, four grandchildren, AJ Vieira, Andrew Vieira, Collin Silva, Connor Silva and of the late Sarah Vieira Silva. He also leaves four brothers and five sisters including; Jose Vieira and his late wife Mary, Felipe Vieira and his wife Natalia, Odete Alberto and her husband Jose Maria, , Fatima Leitao and her late husband Eduardo, Silvana Paiva and her husband Felipe, Maria Jose Albano and her late husband Jose, Alfonso Vieira and his wife Filomena, Emanuela Galvao and her husband Joao and Manuel Francisco Vieira and his wife Maria. He also leaves 38 nieces and nephews and many other relatives.
Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic his funeral will be private. Live streaming of the funeral service will be on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends will be invited to attend a memorial Mass in celebration of Antonio’s life, at St. Francis Xavier Church at a time to be announced.
