Alcina A. Carvalho, 70 of Grandview Street died Saturday, April 13, 2013 at her home. She was born in Providence, a daughter of the late Praxedes and Isolina (Garcia) Carvalho. Alcina was a Social Case Worker for the State of Rhode Island for thirty years before retiring six years ago. She was a member of the Women’s Guild of the Cape Verdean Progressive Center in East Providence. She leaves two sons, Paul D. Carvalho and his wife Rondelle and Steven P. Carvalho , one sister, Emilia Lopes, two brothers, Everett Carvalho and John Silva, six grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Rodney A. Carvalho and sister of the late Henrietta Clement, Pedro, John and Norberto Carvalho.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM in Holy Name Church, 99 Camp Street, Providence. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery,Pawtucket. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence.
