Frackelton Jr, Albert Raymond, “Ray” 73, a life-long resident of East Providence, passed away peacefully at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center center on October 14, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Marjorie (Hambly) Frackelton for 51 years and son of the late Albert and Edith Frackelton. An East Providence High School graduate, Ray received Undergraduate and Master’s Degrees from UCONN in Developmental Biology, PhD. in Immunology from Brown University and continued his postdoctoral work at MIT, Harvard, and Yale. He was an Associate Professor of Research at Brown University for 30 years, as well as a Scientific Staff member in the Department of Medicine and Research at Roger Williams Medical Center. He was a reviewer and consultant to many scientific journals and federal agencies. Upon retirement, Ray remained active on the research safety and radiation committees at Roger Williams Medical Center. Ray was passionate about climate change; demonstrated through his participation in the RI Interfaith Power and Light and the Environmental Ministries of the United Church of Christ at the National, Conference and local levels. He was an active member at Newman Congregational Church in Rumford and was instrumental in having solar panels installed on the Memorial Hall roof. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: daughter, Susan MacDonald and her husband Malcolm of Seekonk, son Peter Frackelton and his wife Jessica of Attleboro, and sisters Janice Gammage of Florida; and Marcia Johnson and her husband Kenneth of Pennsylvania. He also leaves six loving grandchildren : Jarred, Ryan and Abby MacDonald and Alexa, Adelle and Annette Frackelton. His funeral will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Newman Congregational Church, Rumford. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Thursday 4-7.
