José A. Cabral, 69, of Providence passed away Monday, March 18, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Maria J. ( Laranja) Cabral.
Born in Rabo de Peixe, Sao Miguel, Açores, he was a son of the late Manuel de Jesus and Carolina (Rebello) Cabral.
José was a fisherman in Portugal and in 1985 he immigrated to America and settled in Providence with his family. He worked for Victory Finishing of Providence. José enjoyed fishing and playing dominos. He was a big fan of soccer and was a true “Sportingista” of the Sporting Soccer club.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, José Cabral and his fiancè Angela of Providence, Messias Cabral and his wife Kayla of Warwick, seven grandchildren, Messias, Aron, Sally, Lizandro, Adriana, Ashley and Brady Cabral. He leaves five sisters, Alda Andrade of Cranston, Eufrosina Vieira of Warwick, Maria Machado of Providence, Dorvalina Cabral of Warwick, Anna Cabral of Seekonk, MA and a brother Eduardo Cabral of Rabo de Peixe and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Maria J. Cabral and the brother of the late Manuel Cabral and Miguel Cabral.
His funeral will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Traverse Street, Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 4-7PM.
