Anthony J. Rapoza, 90, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Elderwood of Riverside. He was the husband of the late Mary (Andrade) Rapoza to whom he married on June 10, 1950. Born in East Providence, he was a son of the late Ernest and Louise (Castro) Rapoza. Mr. Rapoza was the owner and operator of Delta Electric Motor and Generator. He was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church, a member of the former Holy Name Society and also a former communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fairhaven. He was a member of the East Providence Council # 1528, Knights of Columbus. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He leaves one daughter, Mary Lou Tavares and her husband Louis of East Providence, eight sons, James Rapoza and his wife Patricia of Swansea, Anthony J. Rapoza, Jr. of East Providence, Michael Rapoza and his wife Sheree of Swansea, Stephen Rapoza and his wife Michele of North Dartmouth, Thomas Rapoza and his wife Brenda of Nashua, N.H., John Rapoza and his wife Diane of Fairhaven, Paul Rapoza and his wife Christine of Tiverton and Ernest Rapoza and his wife Alison of Somerset, two sisters, Louise Henry and Rosalina Marshall both of Warwick, two brothers, Ernest Rapoza of Pawtucket and John Rapoza of Warwick, 24 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Lydia Medeiros, Virginia Cocozza and Robert Rapoza and father in law of the late Joanne Rapoza. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church. Burial with Military Honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 4-8.
