Thomas R. Levasseur

Thomas R. Levasseur, age 81 of Seekonk, MA passed away recently from pancreatic cancer and was surrounded by his immediate family. He is the husband of Mary (Foley) Levasseur.  Born and raised in Fall River, MA, he is the son of the late Roland and Mary Levasseur. Tom spent the majority of his life in Massachusetts. Prior to starting his family life in Massachusetts, he spent two years in active naval duty and was stationed in Jacksonville, FL. After his naval enlistment, he returned to Fall River and eventually moved to Seekonk, MA where he and his wife, Mary, raised their family. Mr. Levasseur graduated from Northeastern University with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. The majority of his career was spent working for Raytheon and SSAI, both government contracting firms. Later in life, Mr. Levasseur purchased a NAPA Auto Parts store and was the owner of the franchised store until he retired in 2002.  He enjoyed his time with his family and friends. He enjoyed a good meal, good laughter and good times with good company. He was always seeking out conversations and built many great friendships over the years as a result of his outgoing ways. Some of his best moments were shared with their family friends, Mary and Henry Bennett of Dighton, AM and their kids at the Bennett’s summer cottage at Saquish Beach in Plymouth, MA.  He was an avid vacationer to the Grand Cayman Islands, where he and his wife vacationed every year for the past 15 years. He enjoyed the sun, the sand and a good book.  Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary (Foley) Levasseur; his daughter Linda Levasseur of Seekonk, MA, his son Thomas and his wife Michelle (Stevens) Levasseur of Pepperell, MA, his three grandchildren, Brittany, Joshua and Jackson, his brother Robert LeVasseur and his wife Pauline of Jacksonville, FL, and their two sons Robert and Philip, two aunts and several cousins, and his brother-in-law Patrick Foley and his wife Carol Foley.  Thomas also is pre-deceased by his daughter Leslie, who passed in 1965.  His funeral will be held on Friday, May 20th at 9 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Seekonk. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, May 19th from 4-7PM.   Burial will be private.   In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to Division of Biology & Medicine Brown University Box G-R001 Providence RI 02912
