Patricia A. Smith, 89, of Althea Street, Providence, passed away Saturday February 27, 2016 at the Golden Crest Nursing Center in North Providence. She was the wife of the late George T. Smith. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Paulena (Fayerweather) Strong. Mrs. Smith, Peacemaker, was a member of the Pokanoket Tribe-Pokanoket Nation. Mrs. Smith worked for Monet Jewelry before retiring. She was a member of the Holy Temple Church of God and Christ. She leaves two daughters, Joyce L. Stevos, Ph. D. of Providence and Denise M. Garvin and her husband Ernest of Idaho, one son, Vernon A. Brown, Jr. and his wife Rita of Providence, five grandchildren, Manuel J. Stevos, Joshua E. Garvin, Rebekah M. Sellers, Sarah K. Barbieri and Isaiah J. Garvin, twenty two great grandchildren, one niece and one nephew. She was the sister of the late Earl, Carl and Leon Strong. Her funeral and visitation will be held on Saturday at 9:30 AM in the Holy Temple Church of God in Christ, 68 Althea Street, Providence with a service to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private.
